It's Over. Let's move on. Oh, and by the way, the birth on American soil principle is silly.

For the die-hards, here's a Newsmax column with the facts that show why this debate should never have taken place:

I'm still pinching myself over the irrationality displayed in this thread. Consider just the sacred Constitutional principle that was allegedly violated -- birth in the territorial US. In 1787 when this document was written, it took 3 months to get to Europe. That's nearly three months longer than it takes us to get to the moon. Moreover, there were no telecommunications, no Internet, etc. in those days to connect people to what was happening three months away. So the rule made sense. Today it makes no sense. What is the difference if Obama was born in Kenya or the Canal Zone, or Hawaii (where, if you read the Newsmax piece, you'll see he most likely was)? There is none. None.

I didn't raise the stupidity of the sacred constitutional principle claim before, because much more important than that in my view, was that people recognize that the Constitution means nothing if a majority of Americans reject it. If this were to come to pass, the principles could not be enforced. In the second place, conservatives need to recognize and accept that they lost the election and it is important for Americans to accept their new president. He may do things, AS PRESIDENT, that will cause them to oppose him, and that is fine. But first they need to accept him as President, because that is the way our constitutional system works. And it is the only way it works.
