The voters have spoken and it's not good for the McCain team. If you look at the RealClearPolitics track for Pennsylvania, you'll see that McCain has lost all his gains and is now almost five points behind, whereas on September 18, he was less than a point behind, which meant (in my humble estimation) that he would win the state and the election. Obviously the election isn't over, but just as obviously voters did not pay much attention to Obama's reaction shots as I wondered in my last blog. Consequently this week McCain is on track to lose the election if the voters interviewed by the pollsters are 1) telling the truth and 2) going to vote. Also there's that little matter of events. But I don't see how McCain is going to be helped by the Republican rejection of the bailout bill when he made it a fairly dramatic point of his campaign that an agreement on the bill was a matter of the national interest.
