In demanding the release of the photos of alleged abuse of Islamic terror suspects, the ACLU is carrying on its war against America. And make no mistake, that is what the ACLU's war is about. No longer can the left mask its hatred for America as a hatred of Bush. That was always a smokescreen. Bush is gone. The most leftwing politician ever to occupy the White House is now commander in chief. The left's desire to inflame Islamic barbarians against their country is now transparent. The Obama administration is against tough interrogation techniques and has said so. Obama is against "torture." He is the great progressive hope. So what is the point of publishing the photos, since whatever practices they reveal are now off the table? The purpose is to stick a knife in the backs of our troops. And encourage our enemies.
Even Andrew Sullivan has joined this disreputable and disloyal pack, preposterously calling Obama "The Neo-Con in Chief" in a recent blog. According to Andrew, Obama "owns" the torture because he won't reveal the photos. Afghanistan and Iraq are now Obama's wars. And so it is. Bush was right. Obama and the Democrats and the liberals were wrong. We were not aggressors and occupiers, we were and are defenders of freedom in Afghanistan in Iraq. I don't expect admissions of guilt from progressives who attacked us during these wars. I do expect some decency towards our brave men and women in arms. I'm not kidding myself that the left is capable of decency however.
