Frontpage Interview’s guest today is Dave Gaubatz, the first U.S. civilian (1811) Federal Agent deployed to Iraq in 2003. He is currently the Director of the Mapping Sharia Project and the Owner of DG Counter-terrorism Publishing (dgaubatz.blogspot.com). He can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org.
FP: Dave Gaubatz, welcome to Frontpage Interview.
I’d like to talk to you today about your recent resignation as the Director of the Mapping Sharia Project. Within that resignation is a very crucial story about what is going on with our war against jihad and against the leftist forces that are trying to aid and abet it.
Tell us why you resigned.
Gaubatz: First Jamie I must thank you for your work on ‘educating’ concerned people of the Left’s naïve or simply ignoring threats America faces. Your book, United In Hate should be enough to awaken anyone.
Yes, I did resign from the Mapping Sharia Project. The project was always and still is important to me. I believe it is needed for our country’s national security, but it is a long term ‘scientific analysis’ approach and for long term U.S. policy change in regards to Sharia law. For people that understand my background and my own ideology in regards to counter-terrorism (CT), I want intelligence pertaining to our national security reported to the American public immediately and acted upon immediately. I want the issues responded to proactively (today, not next month, next year, or in ten years) by our law enforcement (LE) and elected officials.
Mapping Sharia should continue, but one major difference between Islamic Jihadists and me is the lack of unnecessary patience. After working many years for our government and seeing the amount of intelligence obtained, stored in safes, never shared, and not released with local law enforcement agencies because they did not have a ‘clearance’, I can no longer condone this. If the intelligence is not shared with local law enforcement, we are not protecting our children.
FP: Can you explain this?
Gaubatz: There is a time and place for patience, but when the obvious is in front of us, I have a difficult time waiting to inform the American public. In prior interviews I have never claimed to be a CT expert, but one need only understand the basics of the Islamic Jihadist ideology to know our country is in ”hot water”. I do not believe America has ‘years’ before we lose the country we know and love. Possibly I am selfish, but our son’s and daughter’s need us now.
FP: What are you going to be doing to help bring timely CT intelligence to the forefront?
Gaubatz: I have formed my own company (DG CT Publishing/www.dgaubatz.blogspot.com), which will allow me to determine when ‘CT intelligence’ my research team and I obtain is distributed to the public. Essentially this is how I am currently putting these efforts forward:
- My research team or I visit a selected city (at my discretion) and conduct research at one or more Islamic Centers.
- I review the intelligence that is obtained and will immediately rank the potential for violent acts being conducted based on the Islamic leaders advocating the ideology of Islamic Jihadists. I have trained under the wisdom of many great people both in the U.S. and outside pertaining to the methods Islamic terrorist leaders and their supporters use to advocate violence toward innocent people. I do not need years of scientific analysis to know when a ‘high potential for violence exists.
- I provide my intelligence to LE and to the public simultaneously. My objective is not to do the work of our LE, nor spend months convincing them a likelihood of violence exists in their respective cities. My objective is to inform the public of what is being advocated at specific Islamic Centers and if they are ranked high, the public should demand our well intentioned LE and prosecutors do the jobs they are paid to do. Of course no one is required to heed my professional advise, but our LE or elected officials will no longer be allowed to go before ‘cameras’ after tragic Islamic terrorist events occur and say they were not forewarned. Nor will they be able to say they were not informed when I have informed them innocent Muslim children are being ‘educated’ to hate America and non-Muslims.
FP: What would the criteria be to rate a particular Islamic Center a high ranking in regards to the likelihood violent Islamic Jihadist activity is being advocated?
Gaubatz: The Islamic Center would first have to be visited by one of my researchers, or me. I do not rely on open source material, which does have its value in certain circumstances, but first-hand evidence is a standard I have set as the number one requirement. Then it becomes rather ‘simple’ in the concept if one understands the methodology currently being used by Islamic terrorist groups and their supporters. Unfortunately most LE and U.S. Prosecutors do not know (due to most training they are provided is ‘politically correct’ and often controlled by such organizations as CAIR).
Recently I conducted research in a major U.S. city. Ali Al Timimi (convicted Islamic terrorist supporter), Imam Siraj Wahhaj, Ahmad Sakr, and Abul Mawdudi materials (there are more) being used at some mosques to educate worshippers (to include innocent children) on how to conduct their lives in America. I ranked these mosques 9.5 to 10. If I have to ‘educate’ senior LE on who Ali Al Timimi is, or why using his lectures can lead young children and adults to commit violence, I leave it to the American public to respectfully inform them why this activity is not covered under the U.S. Constitution.
FP: Do you fear for your safety or of being sued by Islamic Centers or organizations?
Gaubatz: When ‘fear’ is shown to Islamic terror groups and their supporters, they are managing you, and they win. In regards to being sued I encourage any Islamic Center I have rated as ‘high’ potential for violence to follow through. I have never suggested any Islamic leader trained in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, or Pakistan is not well trained or not intelligent. Contrary to this I say they are highly trained and educated. This is why when faced with the ‘truth’ obtained through first-hand evidence pertaining to their activities; they are smart enough not to want exposure in court. Many of the Islamic leaders in the U.S. who are trained by such countries as Saudi Arabia advocating violence against our country are not even U.S. citizens.
I believe it is important for readers to understand there is one family that saved my life in Iraq (2003). They are Muslim. This family represents many Muslims who do not want their children or mine to suffer from the violent ideology of Islamic Jihadists. Thank you again Jamie. Please keep up the work you and Frontpage are doing.
FP: And thank you for your courage and nobility and for fighting for the protection of this great country.
