Unnecessary Deaths By: David Horowitz
FrontPageMagazine.com | Monday, July 08, 2002

“The vast majority of young gay and bi-sexual men in the United States who were found to have the AIDS virus in a new study were unaware of their infection, according to findings reported as the 14th International AIDS Conference opened here today.” NY Times, Barcelona,  Spain, July 7, 2002

These coolly phrased words written by reporter Lawrence K. Altman in an account of the International AIDS Conference being currently held in Spain conceal what is without question the greatest scandal in American history and the worst atrocity ever to take place on American soil. One million Americans are already infected with AIDS and 300,000 are dead. But the fact is that most of these infections and deaths could have been prevented by the employment of standard public health practices in place for more than half a century up to the inception of the AIDS epidemic. These practices include testing, contact tracing, reporting and closing of infection sites. They were all abandoned under intense and unrelenting political pressure from gay activists, the AIDS lobby and the Democratic Party.

The statistics released at the Barcelona AIDS conference are chilling. Ninety-percent of gay black men aged 15 –29 who have the virus and were surveyed in the study did not know they had it until the researchers informed them. This means that without the intervention of the AIDS researchers they would not be getting treatment for their illnesses and would be infecting other young men as well. In the Hispanic gay community the figure is 70% infected by AIDS and ignorant of their condition. and in the white gay community 60%.

Does any reasonable person believe that if every person infected with the AIDS virus were required to report their infection to public health authorities, or if public health authorities tracked down every one of their sexual contacts to warn them of the possibility that they would get AIDS too, the level of ignorance now prevailing would be possible?

Does any reasonable person believe that if testing for AIDS were mandatory for every gay male and every individual in a risk group for AIDS, ignorance among gays would be as high as it is? Or that there would be 10,000 new AIDS cases in America every month?

Yet this is the situation that public health authorities and the politically correct have allowed to persist without interruption for the entire 20 years of the AIDS epidemic.
