Updates: Inner Thoughts of a Racist By: Frontpagemag.com
FrontPageMagazine.com | Wednesday, March 15, 2000

3/8—The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has taken the lead in publishing excerpts from the racist writings of alleged murderer Ronald Taylor.  The rantings included such hateful quotations as, "Jesus Christ made a very costly mistake putting white people on the face of the earth." They also contain vitriolic anti-Americanism, for example: "the United Snakes of America will burn in hell."

3/7—Remember last week's hate crime in Pittsburgh? If so, good for you. After a frenzy of first-day reporting, the story has fallen off the national radar screen. Could it have something to do with the fact that Ronald Taylor, the accused murderer, was a black racist targeting only white victims, and that the state of Pennsylvania has charged him with hate-crime violations? When white supremacist Buford Furrow went on a racist rampage in Los Angeles last year, the media did not lose interest so quickly.

3/7—And while "Buford Furrow" may be a household name, "Negusse Zeleke," no doubt, is not.  Last November, Zeleke, a black shuttle-bus driver in Kansas City, Mo., shot two of his white colleagues, killing one. His motive? Anger over "black blood sucker supreme white people."

3/7—Late one night last December, a white woman in New York City was abducted, raped, and sodomized by a black attacker. During the attack, the New York Post reports, "the assailant, who is black, also berated his white victim with racial curses But cops did not classify it as a bias crime."

3/7—Authorities have also been reluctant to classify as a hate crime last summer's attack on Israel Byrd in Oklahoma City. Several black teenagers assaulted Byrd, fifteen and white, beating him severely with their fists and his skateboard. Byrd's mother found her son lying in a pool of his own blood.

3/7—Independence, Mo, was home to a politically incorrect crime—when a black motorist sped off in a stolen Chevy Blazer with eleven-year Jake Robel hanging by his seatbelt out the passenger door. The boy was dragged to death.

3/7—In Racial Killings and Gun Control, David Horowitz recently wrote that "the Confederate flag … hasn't killed anyone so far." As one reader has pointed out, that's not quite true. The state supreme court of Kentucky recently upheld the 1995 conviction of Charles Damien Darden, who, along Freddie Morrow, shot and killed Michael Westerman, 19, because he was flying a rebel flag from  the back of his pick-up truck. Darden and Morrow are black, Westerman was white.
