Professor for Hezbollah By: Andrea Peyser
New York Post | Thursday, October 12, 2006

His next gig should be with the United Nations. Professor John “Tito” Gerassi believes the U.S. government “murdered” Israeli Prime Minster Ariel Sharon. And Yitzhak Rabin, for that matter.

The good professor thinks most congressmen are “whores”; he wanted Hezbollah to win against Israel; and he believes The New York Times is part of the “Israel lobby,” propping up a nation that “deliberately kills children.” He told me Rupert Murdoch supports “the killing of Palestinian children, but you won’t print that.” I just did.

Funny, though - in 13 years, I’ve never seen a preteen carcass around the office. The professor was not bleating in the basement to his cats - he was speaking at a freshman-level political-science lecture given Sept. 5 at Queens College, part of the City University of New York system. That flushing sound you hear is your taxes going down the toilet. “I was disgusted,” student Joshua Rubin, 21, told me. “He said he just wished Israel would stop being Israel altogether.

But he said not to worry - within 40 years, Hezbollah will succeed in destroying it. “We shouldn’t allow the classroom to become an al Qaeda training camp,” said Rubin, who was one of 55 students who walked out. Gerassi, a tenured professor making $101,435 a year, has the support of Queens College. “It is the responsibility of a college to encourage a diversity of viewpoints, especially regarding difficult or controversial subjects,” the college said in a statement.

Reached at his Upper East Side home, Gerassi pumped up the volume. “The U.S. does not want peace in the Middle East,” he said. “Those bastards now in the White House - these guys said we have to dominate the Middle East.

"We have to dominate who gets the oil.” About Sharon: “They killed him!” he shrieked. “How come nobody can see him? As anti-Arab as he was” he wanted a Palestinian state. So Israeli forces working for the United States “took him out.” Rabin, too.

“I’m pro-Palestinian,” said Gerassi, the son of a Sephardic Jew. “But I support Hezbollah.” Gerassi, 75, has been spewing this hatred at Queens College since 1978. “The greatest terrorist nation is the United States,” ranted Gerassi, who, incredibly, has quite a following on campus.

Before hanging up, he said, “I hope you do this issue justice.” To do this drivel justice would be not to print it - but then how would the parents of this city know what their kids are being taught?
