Letter to a War Protester, Part Deux By: Michael Tremoglie
FrontPageMagazine.com | Friday, March 21, 2003

Melissa when we last corresponded I explained to you why, even though I am not necessarily in favor of war, I am thoroughly disgusted with the so-called “peace” rallies which are not peace rallies, they are anti-American rallies. I explained to you the research I have done about these groups and told you that not only are their motivations corrupt their information is just completely false.

The problem is that many of those on your side are allying yourselves with those who have no interest in peace. Yet, somehow that does not matter to you. You say that politics make strange bedfellows and that this coalition of Communists, Islamists and others is only allied for one reason-for peace.

This is specious. I have already provided you with an example of how the peace leadership prevented someone from speaking at a rally because that person had the temerity to criticize one of the groups.

I was watching the John Wayne movie “She Wore A Yellow Ribbon” tonight. I thought of you when the Duke uttered the line "old men should stop wars."  I agree that they should, and his character in the movie did just that by disarming the enemy. He didn't do it by burning down his fort or helping the enemy with their propaganda or condemning his country’s policies.

Dissent is not treason. However, treason is not dissent. After having researched ANSWER and NION as I have, I have no doubt they are a fifth column. There are too many links with communists and pro-Palestinian terrorists groups. It cannot be coincidental.

Melissa, when you make statements like calling President Bush the "President-select" or saying that this possible war is about "profits," you lose credibility. You portray yourself as nothing more than a malicious anti-American. (Ironically, you accuse pro-military action people of being anti-American yet you get upset when someone accuses you of being anti-American). Your belief that  "profits" is the precipitating factor is nothing more than communist cant. You are repeating the words of Brian Becker (who adores Stalin and Kim Jung Il), Ramsey Clark (who adores Slobodan Milosevic), and Clark Kissinger (who idolizes Mao Tse Tung and Mumia Abu Jamal). You are repeating what people who idolize some of the most murderous, genocidal leaders in world history are saying.

Profits? You have absolutely not one iota of proof of a profit motive. In fact, you would have no idea who would profit from this or why. This is an assertion borne of hatred for Bush because he is anti-abortion and of your admitted hatred of American foreign policy.

However, remember this is the same foreign policy that said if the Commies controlled Viet Nam there would be genocide.

Guess what, Melissa? There was.

The same foreign policy that said missiles in Europe deployed by Reagan would result in nuclear war with the Soviets ( Senator Kennedy ca. 1984).

Guess what, Melissa? The opposite happened. It was this foreign policy that:

1) Freed Eastern Europe

2 ) Fed Berliners when the commies tried to starve them

3) Liberated the concentration camps of Germany and the Soviet Union.

4) Kept South Korea from becoming like North Korea.

5) Protected Israelis from slaughter in 1973 and Palestinians from slaughter in 1983 (only to have 247 Marines killed by Palestinians for their efforts).

6) Prevented more Rapes of Nanking.

7) Prevented Muslims in the Balkans from being slaughtered.

8) Provide safe havens for people from Cambodia, Cuba Haiti and other places.

And on and on and on . . . .

And something else, Melissa, to paraphrase Secretary of State Powell: As many times as our young soldiers were sent from our shores the only land we ever kept was the land to bury the ones that died!

This is the foreign policy that you hate so much.

Profits, Melissa? What about the money still owed us by France, Britain, China, Russia, et. al. for WWII? If we wanted profits we would frozen the assets of everyone of those countries and do so legally, ethically and morally. In between your Commie rallies, research the war debt. And by the way next time you attend a Medea Benjamin seminar, ask her if Cuba is such a wonderful place like she says, how is it that people are leaving there on pieces of driftwood. People are literally dying to get out of Cuba. (Elian's mother remember?)

War is an evil-albeit a necessary one. I don't want a war. It could be avoided. Hussein could do what he said he was going to do. Of course, you don't even know what he said he was going to do. All you can do is recite what Stalin lovers like Brian Becker say. Several times I have asked you if you knew the details about the issues and you did not. I asked you if you knew about UN resolution 1441 you did not. Nor where you aware of the other two resolutions.

How can you say you have informed opinion when all you do is spout mean-spirited hackneyed phrases like president-select and who is going to profit from this war.

Now you say the Pope is on your side! Once again you are displaying how uninformed you are. From  CNN dated February 14, 2003:  “ Pope John Paul II urged Iraq to take 'concrete steps' to show that it is abiding by U.N. resolutions requiring it to disarm when he met Iraq's Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz. “

Your side has never urged Hussein to comply. All your side does is say mean-spirited hateful things like "President-select." Or "War for oil." (By the way, Melissa, the Pope is opposed to abortion. You don't invoke his name in that issue. How come?)

It seems your side doesn't know much of anything except what some communists groups and fanatical anti-Semitic Muslim groups tell them to think.

Educate yourself before you judge-lest you be judged.
